Melendez: Paint Your Precinct Blue

08/19/2006

Dear Fellow Minnesotans,

It’s time for change.

For the past four years, George W. Bush, Karl Rove, Bill Frist, and Tom DeLay have controlled the federal government. It’s up to us to make sure we paint Minnesota blue this year – one precinct at a time.

For the past four years, George W. Bush and his cronies have used their power to force our nation into a misguided, poorly-executed war.

For the past five years, George W. Bush and his cronies have used their power to pass massive tax giveaways for their rich pals in the oil and pharmaceutical industries, while they increase the tax burden for the rest of us.

For the past five years, George W. Bush and his cronies have used their power to abandon what semblance of fiscal sanity the Republican Party ever had and behave like teenagers with their parents’ credit card – resulting in record budget deficits and a national debt that is spiraling so far out of control that our children and their children will still be paying for the Republicans’ irresponsible excesses.

And now they want us to send another rubber stamp – another loyal Republican soldier – to the U.S. Senate to help them continue their corrupt, out-of-control elitism. It’s up to us to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Mark Kennedy has voted the bidding of George W. Bush more than 92 percent of the time. He has diligently toed the Republican Party line 95 percent of the time. We need to make sure that Makeover Mark is sent back to the private sector this November!

When George W. Bush needed his vote to slash student aid by $1.8 billion, Makeover Mark was there.

When George W. Bush needed his vote to pass a bill that will devastate the sugar beet farmers of western Minnesota, Makeover Mark was there.

And every time George W. Bush needed his vote to stay the course in the misguided war in Iraq, Mark Kennedy was there.

Mark Kennedy cannot be trusted to stand up for Minnesota. He has been a Washington insider for his entire congressional career. When George W. Bush wants something, he calls Mark Kennedy.

We need change.

Paint a precinct blue and send Mark Kennedy packing now!

Sincerely,

Brian Melendez
DFL Chairman
