The Minnesota House on Thursday approved a one-year tuition freeze at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) as it passed a $3.2 billion higher-education bill. The overall bill passed by a vote of 95 to 37.

The freeze, approved as an amendment to the bill, would be in effect in the fall of 2008 at all MnSCU two- and four-year colleges and universities. The money to pay for that would come from the MnSCU central administration budget, which would be reduced from $40.2 million to $34.2 million.
