MN Senate OKs outdoor/arts funding bill

On the eve of the state's fishing opener and with representatives of outdoor sporting groups waiting anxiously in the wings, the Senate today overwhelmingly passed a bill that would ask voters to raise the state's sales tax and dedicate the new money for fish and wildlife habitat, water preservation and the arts.
The bill, which passed 52 to 14, would add 3/8ths of one percent of the sales tax and generate about $291 million a year for 25 years.
