New Rural MN Dem b-Log: ‘Vox Verax’

01/08/2006

A friend who lives down in the 1st CD just hipped me to a new Dem-friendly blog http://voxverax.blogspot.com/

Here are the primary authors:

Vox Verax . . . means in Latin “truthful voice”. Its primary authors are Tom Maertens and Leigh Pomeroy.

Maertens is a retired U.S. Foreign Service officer and frequent contributor to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the St. Paul Pioneer Press, and the Mankato Free Press, as well as a sometime contributor to various national publications. Among numerous accomplishments, he served on the White House National Security Council staff under both Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

Pomeroy is a writer, editor, and internet developer in a variety of fields ranging from politics to health care to film to wine. In 2004, he was the DFL (Democratic Party) Candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in the 1st Congressional District of Minnesota. He currently teaches part-time at Minnesota State University in Mankato.

They have added another:

A third member of Vox Verax is Joe Mayer, a retired Rochester, Minnesota, high school teacher, devoted Catholic and equally devoted social activist. He and his wife Elaine have been foster parents for countless children and teens, which is a duty and responsibility that only those who’ve experienced it understand. They are two of the kindest, most gentle people one would ever have the pleasure of knowing. His first post is entitled “Contract With America”.

This is a solid blog--well written and interesting.  With many political campaign handicappers predicting that the Tim Walz challenge to Gil Gutknecht will be closer than any recent race, nice to see a strong blog emerge in the 1st.

We need more rural-based blogs.
