NEWLY ELECTED DFL OFFICIALS SWORN IN

(ST. PAUL) 1/2/07 – Three new DFL constitutional officers were sworn in today. Attorney General Lori Swanson took her oath of office at the State Capitol, while Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and Auditor Rebecca Otto took their oaths of office at the Fitzgerald Theater in downtown St. Paul. Minnesota DFL Chair Brian Melendez released the following statement:
“The voters responded to the Minnesota DFL Party’s focus on accountability, equal opportunity, and fair play. Our new leaders are experienced officials who are ready to usher in a new era of accountable, nonpartisan government that has been missing under Republican leadership.”
From the Rochester area State Senator Ann Lynch and State Representative Kim Norton took the oath of office joining Tina Liebling and Any Welti representing this area.
We congratulate these officials on their election, welcome them to their new posts, and pray that they will have the wisdom to represent their Districts in a responsible manner.
