Nobel laureate considers Senate bid in Minnesota

Dr. Peter Agre, a Minnesota native and Nobel chemistry laureate, will take a leave of absence from his job at Duke University to evaluate a possible run for the U.S. Senate from Minnesota.

Dr. Peter Agre, a Minnesota native and Nobel chemistry laureate, will take a leave of absence from his job at Duke University to evaluate a possible run for the U.S. Senate from Minnesota.

Agre, 58, was born in Northfield and attended Augsburg College. He shared the 2003 Nobel in chemistry for work on how materials enter and leave cells. He teaches at the Duke Medical School and is the university's vice chancellor for science and technology.
