The Minnesota chapter of the National Organization for Women has endorsed state Sen. Becky Lourey for governor, her campaign announced Tuesday.
Lourey, DFL-Kerrick, is the only female candidate running for governor in advance of the fall elections. She is widely considered one of the front-runners for the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party endorsement, along with Attorney General Mike Hatch and state Sen. Steve Kelley, DFL-Hopkins.
Minnesota NOW has about 2,400 members and works for equal rights for women, civil and abortion rights, violence prevention and welfare benefits protection.
It will contribute money and provide other assistance to Lourey’s campaign.
