Out with the Old… New Energy Now!
09/27/2006
Dear Editor,
Think of it as a rescue mission. We have dug ourselves a deep energy hole, and you can help get us out!
Seriously – we have an energy plan. Now we just need you, and Congress, to support it. With the November election approaching, the League of Conservation Voters has put together a practical, and doable, energy policy platform – New Energy Now!
Click below to see our New Energy Now! platform and SIGN ON TODAY.

It includes goals and initiatives that, if enacted, will free us from our dangerous dependence on oil and protect our environment, our economy, and ourselves.
If we convince Congress to commit to this plan, and take it with them on the campaign trail over the next few weeks, we will be able achieve a secure energy future for America.
By signing the New Energy Now! Petition, you are supporting legislation that will:
Make cars go further on a gallon of gas. This is elementary! We’d reduce oil consumption, smog, and global warming pollution.
Increase renewable energy and energy efficiency. Homegrown technologies (which we already have) will replace our energy dependence on others.
Tackle global warming over the long term. Isn’t it about time America takes the lead?
Protect America’s special places from oil drilling. Permanently. This means wilderness areas would remain wild, our coasts would remain free of drilling, and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge would remain intact.
This is no pipe dream. For every item on the New Energy Now! platform, there is corresponding legislation in Congress. Urge your representatives to support these sensible bills.
It’s election season, which means your Representative in Congress will be listening to you more closely than ever. So let’s speak up louder than ever!
Help reverse our energy crisis. Sign the New Energy Now! Petition today!
After you sign, remember to tell your friends and family to do the same – this is how we can build enough public pressure. It’s up to you!
Thanks for your support,
Gene Karpinski
