‘Outdoor amendment’ approved by MN House committee

A bill to allow voters to decide whether to dedicate a new portion of the state's sale tax to the outdoors and the arts passed its first House committee today. The vote came even as some legislators continued to hammer away at provisions that include funding for the arts.
By a 9-4 vote, the House Game, Fish, and Forestry Division approved the bill, making short work of several amendments that would have removed the arts or had the money come from the existing sales tax, rather than an increase in it.
