Editorial: Let’s spell it out for you: C-O-M-P-R-O-M-I-S-E (Rochester Post Bulletin)

Legislative leadership is frozen, unable or unwilling to strike a state budget compromise. It is time for a good old-fashioned revolt by rank-and-file lawmakers who see value in compromise.

Rochester legislators could be the lead voice in such a coalition. Consider the center-pulling influence a Rochester led House coalition made up of Republican Reps. Fran Bradley and Randy Demmer, DFL Reps Tina Liebling and Andy Welti could have on a Legislature running headlong into a shutdown. Imagining such a group needn’t be a mirage, but it would have to be lead by Bradley, a co-chair of the Health and Human Services Conference Committee. Likewise, Rochester lawmakers could fashion a bipartisan (sort of) deal in the Senate if Republican Sen. Dave Senjem joined with Independent Sheila Kiscaden, who caucuses with the DFL*
