Override Pawlenty today
02/23/2008
Dear DFLers,
I’m writing to ask you to take action today.
Last night, the Legislature passed long-awaited, bipartisan, comprehensive transportation funding — and Governor Pawlenty vetoed it today. This marks Pawlenty’s third veto in four years of fixing our crumbling roads, deteriorating bridges and below-par transit systems.
Tim Pawlenty — with the borrow-and-spend, get-something-for-nothing ideology that he stubbornly clings to — has failed Minnesota.
But now you can do something about it.
Call or email your representative and senator today and ask them to vote to override Pawlenty’s veto. You can find your legislators here and here. (Not sure who represents you? Click here to find out.)
Legislators may vote on the override as early as Monday, so please call or email today.
And it doesn’t matter if they’re DFLers or Republicans: if they say they’ll override Pawlenty, thank them; but if they say they won’t, or say they’re not sure, tell them you want them to do the right thing.
Why is overriding Pawlenty the right thing to do? Because we can’t wait any longer to right our current transportation mess — and the bipartisan, comprehensive transportation bill will do just that.
Minnesota needs this bill, and don’t take my word for it: the nonpartisan Legislative Auditor said this week that without more transportation funding, we just can’t meet our state’s needs.
Call or email your representative and senator today and ask them to override Pawlenty.
Thank you,
Donna Cassutt
Associate Chair
Minnesota DFL Party
PS: Please, take action today and make your voice heard. Tomorrow may be too late.
