Political Ponderings – 1

Dear Progressives, Defenders of Democracy, Constitutional Patriots,

For the past fifteen months I have been writing and sending out “Progressive Ponderings.” To those of you who have responded positively, Thank you, kindly!

I will continue with “Progressive Ponderings.” But this is also election year and more must be done than study, read, contemplate, and yearn.  If progressive ideas are to prevail, if democracy is to survive and thrive, if patriotism is more than just “follow the leader” we must invest ourselves.

With this I mind I am going to begin another “pondering.” I am calling it “Political Ponderings.” It will be more frequent and shorter in length.  But most of all it will encourage action.

Minnesota caucuses are March 7.  Between now and then “Political Ponderings” will consist of sample progressive resolutions that can be presented at precinct caucuses.  Pick what you like and submit, or amend and submit at
your caucus.  Caucuses are the lowest level at which citizens can begin to participate.  Resolutions submitted here begin the “bottom-up” process that leads to the party platform.

After the Minnesota caucuses, “Political Ponderings” will consist of sample letters to the editor.  Publishers of media, large and small markets, claim “letters” are among the most read parts of their newspapers.  Again, I would
encourage you to copy or, preferably, amend and send and to encourage other progressives to do the same.  “Liberal media,” owned by corporate America, is a fallacy!  We need to use it, the media, any way we can.


For those of you outside Minnesota, even though some of the letters and resolutions may refer to Minnesota issues, fundamentalist conservatives have introduced similar issues in all states.


The best thing that George Bush has done for America is motivate true citizens, true progressives, true patriots.  CHARGE!
