Toward Progressive Government

School of the Americas (SOA); renamed Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHISC )

Whereas the School of the Americas, renamed Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation, is known to have trained men in tactics of intimidating and terrorizing their own citizens when they return to their countries, and

Whereas such trainees have assassinated not only their own citizens but also U.S. citizens residing and working there, and

Whereas such training of foreign military by the U.S. infringes on the affairs of sovereign states, therefore

Be it resolved that the U.S. Congress cease funding for this school and order the U.S. Military and Pentagon to end such training of foreign mercenaries.

End Conflict in Iraq

Whereas our invasion of Iraq was based on false premises of their owning weapons of mass destruction, and

Whereas our occupation has worsened Iraqi living conditions, and

Whereas since our president has declared our success and the end of this war, casualties of both nations have increased dramatically, and

Whereas this war has been at the expense of our sons and daughters in the military and is draining our treasury from the needs of American citizens to finance war, therefore

Be it resolved that our government return self-determination, economically and politically, to Iraq, request that the United Nations participate in a smooth transition, and plan for our withdrawal of troops and for the dismantling of our bases by the end of the year 2006.
