QUICK ACTION CALL NEEDED: Minnesota Minimum Wage Bill

04/28/2005

Hi everyone.

I just received a call that the hospitality industry groups and the
Governor’s office are teaming up to try and kill the bill raising in
the minimum wage in Minnesota. They are targeting new and vulnerable
representatives for pressure. Apparently, the Perkins restaurant chain
has been having their employees call our representatives and tell them
that they will lose their jobs if the minimum wage is raised.

We need constituents to place a quick call to Andy Welti and Tina
Liebling. They have both supported the bill, but may be under some
heavy pressure to switch sides. This is an easy, friendly call to make.

Here is how to help:

1. Call Tina Liebling(30A), (1-800-339-9038) & Andy Welti(30B)
(1-888-858-4753)

2. Thank them for supporting the minimum wage bill without a “tip
credit” provision.

3. Tell them you live in Olmsted County (or wherever) and urge them to
stay strong in their support of raising the minimum wage, because this
will make a big difference in the lives of many working families.

Thanks for any help you can give.

In solidarity,

Russell Hess, President
Southeast Central Labor Council
