Rally for Transportation Funding

04/10/2007

Dear Editor,

For far too long, we have suffered significant shortages in transportation funding across Minnesota. DFL legislative leaders fought last year to pass bipartisan legislation that would have provided the resources necessary to build safe roads and an efficient transit system. But Gov. Tim Pawlenty and a few Republicans in the legislature blocked that progress. They won't adequately invest in our transportation infrastructure. And we have suffered because of it.

You sent a strong message in November: get to work on building a better Minnesota. We heard your message. Now you have another opportunity to drive that message home.

Join Representative Jim Oberstar, Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher, Assistant Senate Majority Leader Tarryl Clark, St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, and other transportation leaders at a State Capitol rally for transportation funding!

WHAT: Rally for Transportation Funding

WHERE: Front steps, State Capitol

WHEN: 10 a.m., Thursday, April 12, 2007

WHO: Representative Jim Oberstar, Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher, Assistant Senate Majority Leader Tarryl Clark, Senator Steve Murphy, St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, and other transportation leaders

As the legislative session reaches its decisive final weeks, now is a critical time to show support for bipartisan transportation proposals that provide essential funding for roads and transit.

Forward this message to a friend, and let's show Governor Pawlenty that it's time for him to work with DFL leaders and stop obstructing adequate transportation funding!

Thank you!
