Rep. Liebling: Update from today’s “leadership” talks on special session

Dear Friends,

Here is an update from today’s meeting between the governor and legislative leaders on the possiblity of a special session. 

A) There is NO agreement about whether or not there will be a special session

B) The legislative leaders and the governor will continue to discuss the possibility of having a special session with a final decision to be made by the middle of next week.

C) Of all three stadium proposals, the governor asked legislative leaders to find out about the likelihood of a gophers stadium bill passing. The governor also asked the legislative leaders to inform him early next week about whether it is even possible for a special session to be conducted productively in one day.

D) The Speaker and Senate Majority Leader proposed that any special session would not include per diem for legislators.
