KENNEDY BLINDLY FOLLOWS BUSH … AGAIN

ST. PAUL (1/26/06) - U.S. Senate candidate and Minnesota Republican Rep. Mark Kennedy recently made comments critical of DFL candidates for the U.S. Senate for giving thoughtful consideration to the nomination of Judge Samuel Alito for a lifetime appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court.  Minnesota DFL Chair Brian Melendez released the following statement:

“The ink had barely dried on the Karl Rove-written talking points before Rep. Kennedy fired off a boilerplate press release praising Judge Alito’s nomination.  Rep. Kennedy seeks a position in the greatest deliberative body in the world, but he couldn’t be bothered to consider a decision as vital as a Supreme Court nomination for more than a day.

“The stakes couldn’t be higher when we’re talking about the Supreme Court.  If Rep. Kennedy can’t be trusted to make a thoughtful, reasoned decision about a Supreme Court nomination, how can Minnesotans trust him to represent their values when it comes to education, health care, jobs, and national security?”
