Klobuchar Receives the Endorsement of Rep. Peterson and the National Farmers Union, Visits Farms in the Red River Valley
Today U.S. Senate candidate Amy Klobuchar received the endorsement of Congressman Collin Peterson (D-MN), ranking member of the U.S. House of Representatives Agriculture Committee. Klobuchar and Peterson visited with sugar beet farmers in Ada, Breckenridge, Crookston, Hallock and Moorhead.
“I need an ally in the Senate who I can count on, whose word is good – that is why I am here today,” said Representative Peterson, speaking to a crowd of farmers. “Amy gets it. You can count on her.”
Rep. Peterson, an eight-term veteran of the U.S. House of Representatives, has been a long-time voice for Minnesota farmers.
Klobuchar also received the endorsement of the National Farmers Union. The National Farmers Union represents 250,000 farmers and ranchers across the country with organized chapters in 26 states including Minnesota.
“I am proud to have the support of Representative Peterson and the National Farmers Union,” said Klobuchar. “As a Senator I will stand with them to fight for a fair deal for Minnesota’s farmers.”
Klobuchar and Peterson spoke about the need for permanent disaster relief in the Farm Bill, adequate price supports for farmers, a continuation in the sugar program and investment in Minnesota’s homegrown energy. Klobuchar has said she wants to join the Senate Agriculture Committee to be a strong voice for Minnesota farmers in the Senate.
