Roadside Bomb Kills U.S. Soldier

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb killed a U.S. Soldier during a patrol in southern Baghdad, the military said Friday.
The Multinational Division - Baghdad soldier died and another was wounded Thursday when the explosion occurred while they were on patrol as part of a U.S.-Iraqi security sweep aimed at pacifying the capital, according to a statement.
Members of the Soldiers' unit have found several roadside bombs and weapons caches in the past two weeks, the military said.
Identities of the deceased were not released pending notification of relatives.
The death raises to at least 3,245 members of the U.S. military who have died since the Iraq war started in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count.
