Screening for Positions in 1st CD 4/12/08

Hi Everyone,



I just want to remind everyone that the 1st District DFL Nominations Committee will be meeting at 9:30am on Saturday, April 12 at the Labor Center in Albert Lea, 1407 Hwy 13 South.


They'll be screening people who are interested in serving for the 1st Congressional District DFL for the next two years starting on the date of our convention, April 26.


Positions that people will screen for are:


Officers: Chair, Associate Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Affirmative Action Officer


11 Directors


Male and Female Delegates and Alternates to represent the 1st District on the 3 state party commissions for 2 years - Platform, Constitution, or Affirmative Action


Male & Female Delegates and Alternates to represent the 1st District on the state convention committees - Credentials, Nominations, Rules (these committees start meeting on May 18 in Rochester and service is finished at the state convention in June)


1 Elector from the 1st District to cast the official vote for president after our Democratic nominee wins the general election


If you are interested in screening for any of these, please join us on April 12. When you arrive, you can fill out a quick questionnaire and go in to screen with the committee for about 5 minutes. You don't need to be a delegate to the convention in order to screen for any of the 2 year positions.


If you cannot make it on April 12th, there will be a few open screening times early on the morning of April 26 before the convention, but the committee would like to have the large majority of screenings done on April 12 so they have time to prepare their report and give it at their assigned time during the convention.
