Secretary of State Candidate Sande Gets Teamsters Endorsement

4/26/06 Minneapolis—Following an extensive endorsement process, Christian Sande, DFL candidate for Minnesota Secretary of State, announced today that the Minnesota Teamsters Joint Council 32 DRIVE endorsed his campaign.
The Minnesota Teamsters Joint Council 32 Democrat Republican Independent Voter Education (DRIVE) is the political committee of Council 32, representing 19 local unions with a membership of over 65,000 throughout Minnesota and the Midwest.
For Sande, the endorsement of the Minnesota Teamsters only continues a relationship and a political education that began in childhood.
“I am particularly honored to have the endorsement of the Minnesota Teamsters Joint Council 32 DRIVE. When I was little and my mom worked at DFL Party Conventions, the Teamsters always served as Sergeants of Arms at the conventions and I always watched and learned from them; they taught me a lot about politics,” Sande said.
Christian continues to work alongside Teamsters in their commitment to protecting worker’s rights.
Currently in the Twin Cities Metro area, members of the Teamsters who work in car dealerships are striking and in a show of solidarity, Christian continues to walk alongside the workers.
“I have walked with our brothers in their commitment to pro-labor issues and will continue to do so everyday until the strike is over. I have never and will never cross a picket line whether that be with the current strike or in any other striking situation,” said Sande.
The Minnesota Teamsters Joint Council 32 Drive along with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) represents approximately 1.4 million employees of the transportation, freight-related and other service industries nationally and internationally.
