Sen. Amy Klobuchar on C-SPAN

Today Amy Klobuchar made her first appearance as a guest on CSPAN and created a great impression for Minnesota. She fielded several calls from people of various parties with a variety of interests and in each case she was frank, to the point, and decisive in her response.
An unusual posture for many who appear on the show and avoid answering the questions they are asked about. Better yet, Senator Klobuchar answered with sensitivity and yet talked in her own no-nonsense style that endears her to many Minnesotans.
Many callers spoke about the Gonzales crisis in Washington and Amy discussed the situation from the Senate viewpoint and discussed the sentiments of her colleagues from both parties.
Others called in wanting more information on her trip to Iraq and she shared her findings with them.
Still others were upset by Democrats redirecting the War in Iraq towards bringing our troops home. Amy was up-front in stating why Democrats are behaving such and the meaning of the 2006 election and the many polls concerning demands of the voters in her District and elsewhere across our land.
About the only thing that did not come up was the food served at her offices at Minnesota Morning Breakfast - potica. That is a pastry well understood by folks from the Iron Range and is left to Minnesotans to know, discover if they haven’t had it yet, and to understand. At least Amy isn’t serving Lutefisk for breakfast – she must be fully acclimated to Washington now.
Seriously – Amy did a great job on C-SPAN her human warmth and personality came through loud and clear. We had a lot to be proud of. Next thing you know she'll have Garrison Keeler speaking to the Senate and have them laughing at themselves and the voters of Lake Woebegone. That would be a breakthrough.
