Sen. Clinton: Half the country in 22 days!

05/03/2007

Dear Paul,

America is ready for change.

Everywhere I go, people tell me they are ready to put an end to the disastrous Bush years -- ready to make a fresh start and finally meet the challenges we face. Wouldn't it be great to restart the 21st century?

Once the voting begins, our opportunity to persuade people that we are ready to lead America into that future will come at a fast and furious pace. As more big states move up the dates of their primaries, we're headed for an election in which more than half of the country will vote in just 22 days.

The Iowa caucuses are on January 14. By the morning of February 6, voters in at least two dozen states will have made their choice clear in the contest for the Democratic nomination.

To win that contest, we must have strong operations on the ground in each and every one of these early states. And in the next 60 days, our campaign is expanding our field programs in as many early primary states as possible.

Help support our "Ready to Lead, Ready to Win" organizing drive today.

Help us run a people-powered campaign by focusing our attention on recruiting organizers and volunteers in the growing roster of early-voting states from California to New York, from Illinois to Texas.

The costs of building our "Ready to Win" organizing effort rise with each new decision by a state to move up its primary or caucus.

And that's not including the enormous expense of getting our message on the air. With so many big states holding their primaries in such a short period, advertising leading up to February 5 will be incredibly expensive.

Early support has never been more crucial than it will be in this vitally important election.

We're so ready for the Bush/Cheney era to be over. But turning America away from the disasters of the Bush years is only half the battle. America's new president has to renew our country's spirit and lead the way in meeting the big challenges ahead of us.

From bringing the right end to the war in Iraq and restoring respect for America around the world to ensuring universal health care coverage to all Americans to making us energy independent and free of foreign oil, we're ready to lead America forward.

If we want that opportunity, these next 60 days are crucial as we work to put organizers and volunteer coordinators in place in key states. Your early support has never been more essential than it is right now.

We've got lots of hard work ahead of us and I really appreciate you standing with me.

Sincerely,

Hillary Rodham Clinton
