Senate passes HF 2461 - Action Alert

Fyi…. This is the historic transportation funding bill which passed from the House (where 10 Republicans helped pass it).  It includes 10 cent gas tax (2 phases), tab fee increases, access for counties to a $20 wheelage tax.  It is the 1st time since 1988 that our state has taken a significant stride toward solving congestion and safety issues.  There is money for county roads in metro and rural areas (all 87 counties agreed to a new CSAH formula and a package which includes a transit solution) .  NONE of the gas tax $$$ go to anything but roads, as required by our constitution.  ALL PARTS OF OUR STATE BENEFIT AND ALL MODES OF TRANSPORTATION-ROADS AND TRANSIT BENEFIT.

The Senate has just passed H.F. 2461 with no amendments on a 36 to 31 vote.  This bill is going to the Governor tomorrow morning.
