The control of Congress changed in 2006 because of just 16 Congressional seats throughout the entire country – and my victory in southern Minnesota made the difference. With the change in leadership, we have seen a change in priorities.

Washington is now focused on providing health care coverage to our children, honoring our commitment to America’s veterans, instituting dramatic new ethics reform and enacting economic solutions that benefit Minnesota’s middle class families.

On each of these fronts, Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s leadership has taken the power of crafting this critical legislation away from K Street Lobbyists and placed it in the hands of the American people.

This change is not something we take lightly and it is a change we must work to protect.
