State Director Elections

02/02/2005

Hello,

My name is Ric Studer, from the DFL’s Sherburne
County Unit. I am also Volunteer CD6 DFL meetups
coordinator and Associate Chair of the DFL
Progressive Caucus. As many of you know, four DFL State
Directorships were created at last May’s DFL State
Convention for members of underrepresented
constituencies in a bold affirmation of our desire,
as Democrats, to be true to the principles of diversity
and inclusion we cherish. These four directors will
help balance our Executive Committee with the fresh
ideas and unique points of view that only people
from diverse cultures and backgrounds can provide, and
strengthen our party in the process. In keeping with
our stated goal of identifying and supporting the
development of new, talented party leaders, the
Progressive Caucus screened seven excellent
candidates at our January meeting and chose to recommend 3 of
these fine Democrats for the office of Director.

The four State Directors will be elected at the
Sat. Feb 5 State Central Committee meeting at the
Anoka High School, gavel at 12 noon. I have
forwarded copies of the bios of our recommended candidates for
your perusal, in PDF file form. Another basic goal
of the Progressive Caucus is the dissemination of
important information to Dfler’s everywhere. To that
end we have posted information on several other
candidates for director on our website for your use
in making an informed decision. You can find this
information as well as news about the Progressive
Caucus at

The caucus will also be sponsoring a symposium
featuring State Rep. Keith Ellison and Sen. Scott
Dibble at 11 AM Sat, also at the Anoka High School,
on > Progressive priorities in the Minnesota Legislature.
All are welcome. Drop in early, get a good parking
spot , and listen to these two respected legislators
and fine speakers talk about the issues facing the
legislative session. Also, immediately after the SCC
meeting join the Progressive Caucus for a social
gathering at Mansetti’s Pizza, on Round Lake Blvd.
in Anoka, just minutes from the High School. Once
again, all are invited.

Our caucus will be presenting our constitution to
the SCC at this saturday’s meeting as well, for
inclusion into the DFL as an official club. We are
looking forward to working closely with all of the
dedicated DFL activists and party officials that
make > the DFL the top state Democratic organization in the
country. Through our continued efforts, sponsoring and
organizing such events as the recent, very
successful > DNC Listening Tour, the promotion of party building
through grassroots organizing and education, plus the
development and support of great progressive
candidates, The Progressive Caucus looks forward to
many years of enjoyable work with the entire party
toward our common goals of a stronger DFL and
victories at all levels of state and national
elected office.

For those of you on the SCC, please try to make it
to the meeting or persuade your alternate to do so.
Stop in to both our pre- meeting forum and post
meeting get together. We want to meet you. And
please give due consideration to our recommended candidates
and application for official party status. I thank
you and look forward to meeting as many of you as
possible.

Go Dems,

Ric Studer
