Take Action: Honest Transportation Investment

04/24/2007

Dear DFLers,

Last year, all of the direct voter contact DFLers did on our wonderful DFL candidates' behalf throughout the state was instrumental to our electoral success. Your willingness to talk with neighbors about changing the direction of our state and nation and getting folks out to vote was greatly appreciated. Part of our success was beginning coordinated door knocks early in the process as part of the Democratic National Committee's "50-State Strategy."

The DNC is once again beginning to organize early for next year's elections by coordinating a nationwide door knock to talk with our neighbors on Saturday, April 28, 2007. We have a wonderful opportunity this April 28 to begin building on last year's success in preparation for the tough battles ahead in taking back Paul Wellstone's U.S. Senate seat and winning next year's presidential election!

We'll be teaming up with our partner organizations for scheduled door knocks throughout Minnesota and we need your help to carry the DFL message throughout our communities. The focus at most staging locations will be advocacy for the transportation bills that were recently passed by both houses of the legislature. Municipal elections will be the focus in Saint Paul and Duluth. In a few areas, DFLers will even be hitting the doors with an elected official!

Now that we have elected DFL majorities in both the Minnesota Senate and House, we have an exciting opportunity to help support our DFL leadership in moving Minnesota forward with robust transportation legislation. While the governor would prefer to borrow billions of dollars to finance our transportation system on a credit card, both houses of the DFL-led legislature have passed fiscally-responsible bills supporting pay-as-you-go funding.

We're heading toward a budget face-off with the governor. Now, you can help support our legislators' efforts to fund a transportation network and improved roads that get people where they need to go safer and more efficiently!

Right now is the time to send a strong message to the governor that it is time to bring our lagging transportation system into the 21st Century to benefit us all. Please join your neighbors in a coordinated, nationwide door knock to send the governor the message to support the responsible, much-needed bipartisan transportation bill.

Your participation will be critical to the success of this organizing effort. Please visit http://www.democrats.org/page/event/search_simple, enter your zip code and sign up to make a difference.

Thanks very much, and we hope to see you on the 28th!

Donna
