My Fellow DFLers,

The recent special elections in SD 15 resulted in a resounding DFL victory which will have a significant effect on the upcoming 2006 election cycle. The lessons learned about the hearts and minds of Minnesota voters and such campaign strategies and tactics as clear, resonant messaging and effective GOTV field work are invaluable. But it could not have been accomplished without an incredible effort by DFLers from all levels of the party and all areas of the state.

From a centralized, multi-purpose DFL office in St. Cloud a coordinated campaign was waged with the priceless participation of caucus staff, elected officials, candidates, party leaders, activists and volunteers from all over Minnesota. I feel confident that I speak for all the humble, strong DFLers in the Central Minnesota area in extending my deepest, heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you who who helped us in our noble endeavor, (and you know who you are) even if it only involved 10 minutes of phone calling. Folks from Bemidji to Rochester took time from their holiday season to ensure that the good people of SD15 will recieve the intelligent, compassionate representation they deserve.

There is no doubt that this outpouring of your holiday gifts of time, treasure and talent turned the tide to our favor in these exciting, often surreal and very important campaigns. I am exceedingly proud of all of you, from Brian Melendez right on down to the folks who pounded lawn signs into the “frozen tundra” of St Cloud in December. I will not soon forget the best holiday season I have ever known.

Here is a wish for you and your families to experience the best that life can offer in the upcoming new year capped off with lots of big DFL victories in November.
