The DFL Warmly Welcomes Sen. Sheila Kiscaden and Ann Lynch
01/09/2006
Paul Munnis
We extend a hearty WELCOME to State Sen. Sheila Kiscaden—a highly determined lady and a skilled State Senator. Her membership in the Democratic Party and the DFL Caucus is assured more by her actions than by her ideological declaration. Sen. Kiscaden has proven by her action to be a compassionate woman who votes for the things that are important to the people of her community and her District while working to leave a legacy of quality and compassion in State government. She is not a Party ideologue but an open minded person who takes the time and effort to learn what her constituents believe in and then she represents them in government, exactly as she is elected to do. When the grey areas of governance occur Sen. Kiscaden reaches for a long legacy of human compassion for others to see her through the often tough decision making process.
Our State Capitol will be a little warmer place in Senate chambers during 2006 when the March session resumes and by May of 2006 when it ends. Because of Sheila’s help and legislative skills there will be a more accomplished State of MN.
The DFL has gained a woman whom the GOP will throw snow-balls at and they will do all sorts of name calling too, but her record is there for all to see. It is hard to diss a track record of achievement and Sheila has a solid and demonstrated track record of accomplishment. Actions speak loudest.
In joining Kelly Doran as a part of the gubernatorial team she brings much strength to that ticket. Those who want to meet the Doran/Kiscaden team can do so at their news conference that will be held at the Raddison Hotel today at 150 S. Broadway in the Galleria Room. A breakfast is served at 0830 and the press conference will be held at 0930.
Another WELCOME is extended to Ann Lynch, a former GOP principle and now a candidate to replace Sheila Kiscaden on the DFL ticket for the MN Senate and in District 30. Ann is another person whom we extend a family welcome to as a person whom many of us know for her warmth, generosity of spirit, and her championship of the best ideas in government stewardship. Ann has a warm heart, a big smile, and the skills to represent her District. She will do just fine and the DFL will work with her to give her an opportunity to lead MN forward into a new Millennium full of challenge. We look forward to helping Ann.
To both of these folks who have decided to work with our DFL to preserve the spirit of what is most important to us, we offer a warm welcome and big hugs all around. Their former credentials in the GOP make them two valued members who can speak from first hand experience about a few in the GOP who have seized power and their negative uses of it even as they point to a better way forward. We are pleased to join hands with them in championing a shared stewardship of the Commons and in advancing ideals that are structured out of compassion for others who are sometimes down on their luck. We are pleased to support them in their bid to serve our community.
WELCOME TO THE DFL
