The Governor’s Misplaced Priorities
04/17/2008
Dear Friend,
Many families across Minnesota have already experienced Minnesota's failing economy. But the news has gotten worse in recent weeks, first CBS announced that WCCO fired Paul Douglas. If the much popular weather man is losing his job, there must be storms ahead for Minnesota's economy. And now the Northwest merger deal threatens hundreds of jobs in Minnesota
Since Governor Pawlenty has taken office, Minnesota's economy has fallen behind - when we're supposed to be "above average." Changing economic realities mean we can't continue to stay the course. That's why we need to pressure the Governor to stop playing his political games - http://ga0.org/campaign/games
Over the last few years the Governor has supported state funding for sports teams, but has opposed real economic development projects like the Central Corridor transportation project. This despite the support of business leaders in regional and statewide chambers of commerce who strongly support investments in transportation as a way to keep Minnesota's economy moving.
Unfortunately, the Governor has road-blocked these critical investments that would generate jobs and attract more business to Minnesota. The Central Corridor project would create one of the largest economic development opportunities in the state's history. It would leverage almost $450 million in federal funding and millions more in private investments to revitalize the region.
Minnesotans can't afford Governor Pawlenty's obstructionist approach to Minnesota's economy.
