Thursday in Winona: Make Your Voice Heard—Social Security Town Hall
06/01/2005
Where does U.S. Representative Gutknecht stand on privatizing Social
Security? Come make your voice heard on Thursday, June 2nd, at a 6:00
PM town hall forum in Winona.
Dear Democrat,
This is an invitation for you to help save Social Security at an
upcoming event in Winona on Thursday, June 2nd.
George W. Bush is trying to convince a skeptical American public and
Congress to support his risky Social Security privatization scam that
would slash benefits for middle-class families and explode the
national debt.
Does local U.S. Representative Gutknecht support preserving Social
Security? Or does Gutknecht support privatizing it and slashing
benefits for middle-class families? It is time for Gutknecht to come
clean with constituents and take a stand on this important issue.
On Thursday, June 2nd at 6:00 PM come let Representative Gutknecht
know your views on President Bush’s Social Security privatization
plan. What would Bush’s huge cut in benefits mean to you and your
family?
MoveOn, Americans United To Protect Social Security, and other
coalition partners in the Social Security fight have invited
Representative Gutknecht to attend a town hall forum in Winona to

P.S. You can check out the momentum we have on this important issue
by watching the rally video on
http://www.americansforsocialsecurity.com/ . If a reporter asks you
why you’re at the town hall, here are some key points to talk about.
George Bush’s plan would make massive cuts in Social Security
benefits for future retirees in order to pay for private accounts.
By replacing our Social Security system with new private accounts,
Social Security benefits will inevitably be cut--up to 46 percent for
future retirees.
Privatization means trillions of dollars of new national debt.
George Bush admitted in a recent press conference that privatization
does not solve Social Security’s solvency issues, so privatization is
a sham meant to replace a guaranteed benefit with a guaranteed gamble.
