Urge the Governor to help Minnesota’s economy
04/05/2008
Dear Friend,
This week House and Senate leaders passed an important economic stimulus package that will generate thousands of good paying jobs throughout Minnesota. With Minnesota's economy lagging behind the nation, this bill is a critical shot for our economy. The bonding bill will help create jobs across the state and improve crumbling infrastructure by funding higher education projects, transit corridors, parks and trails, new public safety facilities, wastewater treatment plants, and flood mitigation measures.
Unfortunately, putting Minnesotans to work isn't on everyone's mind. Rather, the bonding bill may fall victim to the Governor's political games once again. Gov. Pawlenty thinks the size of the bill is too large, despite the fact that his original bonding proposal was the same size. Urge the Governor to sign the bonding bill and do something positive for Minnesota's economy: http://allianceminnesota.org/page/petition/bbgov
Gov. Pawlenty is too concerned about looking good for his friends in Washington D.C. Remind the Governor that he still has a job to do here in Minnesota and that we need to get our economy back on track. Just today we learned that the national unemployment rate increased as the economy lost 80,000 jobs in March.
Minnesota has "Pawlenty" of problems and the Governor is offering no real solutions to fix them. Minnesota families need a stimulus package that will generate jobs, which is exactly what the bonding bill provides. Moreover, it had bipartisan support in both the House and the Senate. The Governor should use his line item veto to remove the segments of the bill that he does not like rather than sinking the entire bill.

Now is the time for leadership, not political games.
