U.S. SENATE CANDIDATE VOWS TO VISIT EVERY COUNTY EVERY YEAR

09/30/2006

Klobuchar Has Traveled Over 37,000 Miles and Visited Every One of Minnesota’s 87 Counties During Her Campaign

U.S. Senate candidate and County Attorney Amy Klobuchar has visited each of Minnesota’s 87 counties; completing her tour with a stop at a picnic in Wabasha today.  At the picnic, Klobuchar pledged to repeat the journey each year that she serves in the Senate.

“The problem with Washington today is that our leaders are out of touch,” Klobuchar said.  “When I’m in the U.S. Senate, I’ll visit every county, every year and talk to Minnesotans from Grand Portage to Pipestone.”

Since she announced her candidacy, Klobuchar has traveled over 37,000 miles and talked with thousands of Minnesotans about why they want change in Washington, D.C.  Klobuchar said that while the particulars were sometimes different, the theme was the same all over the state: Minnesotans want change.

“We have been all over this state on this campaign,” Klobuchar said.  “We’ve talked to farmers in Clay County, workers in Duluth, seniors in Roseville, and small business owners in Rochester.  They all say the same thing.  They all say they want to see change in Washington, D.C.”

Klobuchar’s stop in Wabasha today was also part of her “North Star Tour” of Minnesota.  During the tour Klobuchar and her family have been meeting with people across the state at lunch counters, living rooms, and front porches to talk about why we need a new direction in Washington.

A report of some of the events that Klobuchar has hosted or attended in each county is available online at:
