Vets for Franken!
11/08/2007
SAINT PAUL [11/08/07] - This Saturday, the Al Franken for Senate campaign is proud to be joined by former Sen. Bob Kerrey (D-Nebraska), and Dr. Bob Meaders, founder of Operation Helmet, for a rally to kick off the Vets for Franken constituent group.
Chairing the Vets for Franken group will be former Navy Lt. Jim Judson, veteran of two combat tours in Vietnam, recipient of the Navy Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Presidential Unit Citation, various other medals, commendations and citations.
From Al:
"With Veterans' Day coming up, I find myself thinking about the vets I've met around Minnesota - and the troops I've met on USO tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. No matter what you think of our civilian commanders' decisions, it's hard not to be awed and moved by the tremendous dedication and skill of our troops. And it's hard not to feel angry about the way they've been let down over the past few years.
"Paul Wellstone served on the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs - and if I'm elected, I'd like to do the same. It's not one of those committees where you get a lot of PAC contributions. But the issue of how we repay our veterans for their service and honor their sacrifice is incredibly important to me. And because standing up for vets is a big part of why I'm running for the U.S. Senate, I want that issue to be a big part of this campaign."
