Walz to Host House Veterans’ Affairs Committee Chairman in Rochester

(Rochester, MN) - On Monday, July 23rd, Congressman Tim Walz will host House Veterans Affairs Committee Chairman Bob Filner at the Olmsted County Government Center. Walz and Filner will present a midyear update on the Committee's work and will take questions from the public. The event will take place from 9 - 10:30 a.m. in the Council Chambers Room.

As the highest ranking enlisted soldier ever to serve in Congress, Rep. Walz has focused a significant portion of his time and attention on veterans' issues. Together with Chairman Filner and his colleagues on the House Veterans' Affairs Committee, Congressman Walz has worked to pass legislation addressing veterans educational and employment issues, Traumatic Brain Injuries, the unique circumstances of veterans in rural areas and the budget shortfall experienced by the VA during 2006.

In addition to presenting a midyear update on the work of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Walz and Filner will take questions and address concerns voiced by audience members.

The event is free and open to the public and press.
