Water, water everywhere?
03/30/2008
Minnesota is fortunate to have abundant freshwater resources. But what will the future bring and how can we protect the lakes and rivers that have made us the "land of sky blue water?" Join us as we address the current conditions and problems confronting Minnesota's water resources at the annual Freeman Lecture.
Tuesday, April 8, 2008
9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Cowles Auditorium, Humphrey Center
301 - 19th Avenue South, Minneapolis
The Freeman Lecture will feature a keynote address by Congressman James Oberstar, chair of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, which has jurisdiction over the nation's waterways. Prior to his election to the 8th district, Oberstar staffed the Congressional committee that drafted the original federal Clean Water Act (1972). His remarks will be followed by panel presentations addressing possible components and approaches to state water policy.
The Freeman Lecture program is free and open to the public, with a nominal charge for lunch: $20 for the general public; no charge for high school and college students. Seating is limited, so pre-registration for the program and lunch is required.
