We’re making progress…and headlines!

Dear Editor,I just completed my third trip to Washington to meet with senators and representatives in support of the Paul Wellstone mental health and addiction fairness bill. As I told you last week, I found out on my trip that the Senate may act on the Senate version of the bill in the coming days. I know that your faxes and phone calls are getting through, because I hear about them in my meetings with members of Congress.
I've also been encouraged by the press attention we've received. Last week, the Minneapolis Star Tribune published a strong editorial in favor of the Wellstone bill, which you can read by clicking here.
Also appearing in the Star Tribune recently was a piece by a popular columnist who wrote about my work on behalf of the bill. Read that column here.
Other groups are also taking action, like our friends at Working Assets, who recently asked its members to call their senators and urge them to support as strong a bill as possible. If you haven't contacted your senator, I urge you to do so today. The message is simple: the Senate version of the bill is good, but it can be better. Please support a strong Senate bill, one that is as close to the House version of the bill as possible.
By clicking on the "Act Now" link a fax with a message you can customize will be sent to your senator. It's a simple process and another way of making our voices heard directly by our members of Congress.
I hope you will take a moment to send this fax, and forward this message on to your friends.
On behalf of myself and my brother Mark, thanks again for your help in continuing my dad's work!
David Wellstone
