In their three books: The Third Wave, Future Shock, and Power Shift, Alvin Toffler and his wife managed to forecast most of the changes that have affected and effected humanity since the 1980's. For those who read and understood what these futurists had to say, there was much less stress in dealing with the changes that computing and the Internet brought about when they collided with world culture and multiple kinds of political systems.

Newt Gingrich had been so captured by the forecasts that he tried to remake the GOP into a body that could deal with change. You know the results. It's not that Newt was wrong, he just had a group of people in server positions who could not concentrate on what was needed instead they became corrupt and hijacked government for their own ends and purposes. The extent of that is being reveaed to us daily.

Every field has its own set of futurists. People who look at tthe trends within the professions and who can tell you what is coming and what will need change adoption. In medicine, law, the economy, and government, there are people who can tell you with great accuracy what changes are coming and what is propelling those changes forward and who can measure their rate of progress.

In the realm of computer science and artificial intelligence the seer is Ray Kurtzweil, an engineer and computer scientist who has monitored the industry, watched the trends, tracked the projects, done the math, and who presents the new face of change coming our way to those who will listen. These changes promise to be far more profound than anything that we have seen before. They will impact every profession and change the face of America and the world.
